Racial and Neighborhood Disparities in New York City Criminal Summons Practices
March 2024
DCJ conducts research on the implementation of policing and crime prevention strategies in New York City, including trends over time; racial, ethnic, and neighborhood disparities in enforcement; and effects on community safety and justice outcomes. As part of this work, DCJ, along with other criminal justice organizations (John Jay Research and Evaluation Center and CUNY Institute for State & Local Governance) were tasked with supporting research and/or technical assistance related to a number of the more than 130 reform initiatives contained within the 2021 New York City Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative Plan (“the Plan”). These reports include analyses which monitor the progress of “the Plan.”
