Shannon is a Research Associate at the Data Collaborative for Justice. Shannon is a graduate of the MA program in Forensic Psychology at John Jay College. While studying at John Jay, Shannon worked in the Child and Adolescent Stress and Trauma Lab, under the direction of Dr. Maureen Allwood. Shannon completed her Master’s thesis on responses to different types of trauma exposure and examined these responses in relation to psychological symptoms. Shannon also works with the Samaritans of NYC, a 24/7 suicide prevention hotline to provide immediate emotional support to those in crisis, and with a mental health treatment center providing yoga therapy. Shannon’s research interests include the harmful effects of traumatic experiences, which include exposure to the criminal justice system.
